Missing My US Marine

Missing My US Marine

I see him sleeping,
and I want you beside me.
I hear him laughing,
and need to hear your voice.
I feel his little hand,
and long for your embrace.
Why are you away from me?
"They" need you more than me,
that's how it works.
I resent "them".
"They" have taken a piece of me away,
and it's not supposed to hurt.
Our friends now exclude me because you're gone.
They don't want to upset me by seeing them happy,
so I am ignored.
I live for his smile,
because it's the closest I have to you,
for now.
I miss you.

I wrote this while my husband was on float from 2-19-00 untill 8-6-00. He is in
the marines stationed at MCAS New River, North Carolina.
Thank you,
