For My Husband

For My Husband

Marriage is not easy.
It was never supposed to be.
But military homes have extra stress
That others do not see.

I often think back to the day I married you.
It's funny to think as I said my vows, I married the Air Force too.
We packed our cars with all we had.
I was excited and scared.  Happy and sad.

You started your career, learned things you'd never known.
I began a new job, too, but mine was building our home.
They've taken up your precious time.
They've used your blood and sweat.
But I know your job's important-
You're paying off freedom's debt.

I've been there when you've succeeded.
I've seen some failures, too.
I helplessly stand watching.
I wish there was more that I could do.

I wish our lives were easy.
That's the truth, I cannot lie.
No danger, no moves, and not a single TDY.
But this is the life we've chosen,
And it all comes down to one thing
It is something I wear everyday-
It is my wedding ring.

You are my husband and I am your wife.
We love with a love that runs deep.
I'll be faithful, honest, and loving.
My vows, I swear, I'll keep.

I'll pack up our things when it's time to move,
I'll run the house when you're away.
I'll do my best to never complain.
And we'll be happy, come whatever may.
I also want you know, no matter what you say or do,
You are a good man and I'm very proud of you.

When you need some help, I'll be there to lend a hand.
When you need to talk, I'll do my best to understand.
We'll fill our life with laughter
But I know they'll also be tears.
Together we can face the world.
Embrace our hopes, our dreams, our fears.

Marriage is not easy.
That's what they always say.
But if given the chance, would I marry you again?
Anytime. Anywhere.  Anyday.
